Orascom Development hosts the first edition of the Orascom International Fishing Championship (OIFC), sponsored by the cities of El Gouna and Makadi Heights, under the supervision and sponsorship of the Egyptian Angling Federation and organized by Red Sea Anglers, Invest-Gate reports.

The championship is held over 4 days, from 15 to 18 February, in El Gouna, with the participation of more than 60 competitors, representing 10 international teams from Britain, Italy, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Lebanon, as well as 4 teams from Egypt.

This year, the Egyptian team led by Essam Alawi wins first place, the Italian team led by Massimo Brogna wins second place, and the South African team led by Frank DiOlivera wins third place. Muhannad Al-Harbi from Saudi Arabia is awarded the prize for the largest fish.

For his part, Mohamed Amer, CEO of El Gouna City, expresses his pride in holding the tournament for the tenth year in a row in El Gouna, which contributed to attracting the attention of international teams to participate this year in the first international edition.

Tamer Dowidar, CEO of Makadi Heights and interim CEO of O West, says that Orascom is happy to cooperate with El Gouna City in 2023 to launch the OIFC for the first time in Egypt, with the participation of 10 international teams.

It is worth noting that the city of El Gouna organizes the fishing tournament for 10 years at the local level.
