Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly tours a number of ongoing tourism, service and development projects in the Luxor, Invest-Gate reports.

Madbouly is accompanied on this tour by Minister of Tourism Khaled El Anani, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar, Luxor Governor Mostafa Elham, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mustafa Waziri, Director of Major Projects Department at the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed Fahmy, and a group of government officials, Cabinet’s statement discloses.

The visit begins with an inspection of the excavations started by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, at the bottom of the “Tawfiq Pasha Andrews Palace. Besides, the excavations under part of the Church of the Virgin Mary building, the Karnak Temple and the restoration work of the head of one of the rams.

In this regard, Madbouly confirms that the state, with all its agencies, provides all the capabilities necessary to hold a major celebration to promote the city of Luxor under the title “Luxor in its New Look”, on the sidelines of the completion of the project to revive the Grand Processions Road known as the Road of Rams.

Madbouly explains that the large ongoing projects by the state in several archaeological areas in Luxor, which include the restoration of temples and the revival of Pharaonic monuments, will make this city an open museum that attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world.

For his part, Waziri reviews the latest results of the excavations that took place in the palace of Tawfiq Pasha Andrews.

In addition, Fahmy provides an explanation to the Prime Minister about the executive position of the alternative facilities for the “Church of the Virgin Mary,” explaining that the implementation of the alternative administrative building has been finished.

In a related context, Al-Anani confirms that the first phase of the project to restore the “Great Legends” hall in Karnak temples has been completed, noting that the work of the second phase of restoring the statues of “rams” in the first courtyard in Karnak is nearing completion.

Al-Anani points out that the project to prepare the path of the Rams Road in Luxor is considered one of the most important archaeological projects undertaken by the state, to transform Luxor into the largest open museum in the world by linking the Karnak temples, Luxor Temple, the Temple of “Mott” and the “ruins of ancient Thebes” that are being explored about it in the “Naj’ Abu Asba” area with the Grand Processions Road extending for a distance of about 2,700 m.

He further declares that the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces and the Supreme Council of Antiquities were assigned to work on completing the work of excavating and developing the road.
