Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has convened a meeting to review the progress of the Fustat project as a tourist attraction, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting was attended by Assem E-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo; Jihan Abdel Moneim, Deputy Governor of Cairo for the Southern Region; Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction; Mohamed Ismail, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities; Khaled Siddiq, Chairman of the Urban Development Fund; Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs; Khalil Shaath, Head of the Slum Development Unit in Cairo Governorate; Hisham Samir, Assistant Minister of Tourism; and several officials from ministries and relevant authorities.
Madbouly emphasized the significance that the Egyptian state places on the development of the Fustat area, highlighting its inclusion of expansive green spaces, public parks, and various tourist attractions. This aligns with the government’s objective of increasing tourist numbers to Egypt.
Madbouly also stressed the need to expedite the implementation of the project by considering the early operation of certain facilities and components, enabling a gradual launch, particularly for service and tourism facilities under construction.
Mohamed Al-Homsani, the Official Cabinet Spokesman, stated that during the meeting, the government reaffirmed its integrated vision to connect the Fustat region, historic Cairo, and Khedivial Cairo.
The goal is to leverage the historical, cultural, and tourism elements of these areas to attract more tourists by promoting diverse tourism activities, including exploratory tourism, food tourism, and medical tourism.
Additionally, the meeting acknowledged the potential of historic Cairo as a destination for business, shopping, education, healthcare, and entertainment.
The Prime Minister directed the utilization of top-notch operators for the project, ensuring the provision of the best possible services according to each facility’s requirements.
