Egypt’s Prime Minister Sherif Ismail is calling on governors to conclude the process of reclaiming state-owned lands illegally appropriated on behalf of private parties by May 30, Invest-Gate reports.

Sherif did not reveal whether there would be any penalties or alternative plans in the case of failure to meet the deadline, Local Development Minister Hisham El-Sherif noted at a press conference after Sunday’s cabinet meeting.

“For serious business owners who have cultivated their land, it will be legalised,” El-Sherif says.

Those wishing to legalise their ownership should submit applications to the governor in each governorate, the minister added.
