President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly; Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning; and Major General Ahmed Al-Azzazi, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Invest-Gate reports.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Spokesman for the Presidency, stated that The President was briefed on the progress of projects in the first phase of the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” which focuses on the development of rural Egypt, particularly those related to the construction of water and sewage stations and networks in the targeted villages. The President emphasized the need to complete these projects according to the designated timelines without delays.
The President also reviewed the implementation status of the strategic plan for seawater desalination. The Minister of Housing presented the state’s efforts in this field since 2014, noting that desalination plants are located in the governorates of Marsa Matrouh, Beheira, South Sinai, Red Sea, Port Said, and Alexandria. This includes five related five-year plans extending through 2050.
The President was briefed on proposals for operating desalination plants and the status of water networks. He stressed the importance of upgrading existing stations for maximum efficiency and ensuring timely execution of ongoing projects.
Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of creating a comprehensive plan for future needs and emphasized the importance of localizing the industry for producing desalination plant equipment.
The President was also informed about the progress of various developmental projects and plans to enhance urban areas along the Northwestern Coast to improve their investment value and maximize economic returns. This includes the renovation of the Marina Tourist Center, the “Marina 8” project, the development of the archaeological area in Marina, and the strategic plan for West Ras El Hekma and New Alamein City.
The President instructed that all associated construction, infrastructure, and roadworks be completed according to the planned timelines.
He was further updated on projects executed by the Ministry of Housing, including the announcement of Phase 10 of the “Beit Al Watan” initiative for Egyptians abroad and the steps taken by the government to increase the number of available plots to meet citizens’ needs.
Moreover, The President followed up on updates regarding the “Your Home in Egypt” initiative and discussed mechanisms for operating and managing public parks in Cairo. This included exploring ways to benefit from international experiences in managing and developing green spaces and enhancing related investment activities.
The President stressed the need to swiftly complete project implementation and conduct regular follow-ups to ensure optimal completion, contributing to asset development and maximizing benefits.
He also emphasized the importance of good governance in managing resources and assets to the highest standards, as well as strengthening partnerships with the private sector to empower it in supporting development.
