Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Capital to review the executive plan for expanding seawater desalination plants. The meeting was attended by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Deputy Housing Minister Dr.Sayed Ismail, Head of the Construction Authority for Potable Water and Wastewater Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Arab Contractors’ Senior Vice President Eng. Hassan Mostafa, and several officials, Invest-Gate reports.
Madbouly stressed the government’s commitment to advancing desalination projects using the latest technologies to meet the growing developmental and production needs for potable water.
El Sherbini outlined the ministry’s efforts to maximize the use of alternative water resources, highlighting ongoing projects and the strategic plan to expand desalination, particularly in coastal cities. He presented the consolidated plan for plants to be built through 2050, as well as urgent projects required by 2030, noting that the ministry is working with local and international private sector partners to localize desalination-related industries and reduce production costs.
El Sherbini also reviewed projects underway in governorates such as the Red Sea, Matrouh, and South Sinai, emphasizing the importance of expediting their completion and operation.
