Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting to follow up on the progress of the first phase of Egypt’s presidential initiative “Haya Karima” (Decent Life) aimed at developing rural villages across the country, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting was attended by Planning Minister Rania Al-Mashat, Housing Minister Sherif El Sherbini, and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and other key stakeholders.
Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering completed projects with the highest quality standards and within designated timelines. Housing Minister Sherif El Sherbini presented updates on the infrastructure projects under the Ministry of Housing. These include 468 completed sanitation projects, 719 water network projects (100% completed), and 124 water treatment plants.
The minister also reported completion of 296 health projects, 690 electricity projects, 490 youth centres, 186 ambulance units, and 28 residential buildings. He noted the ministry’s coordination with local factories to accelerate supply of electromechanical components and support domestic production.
Planning Minister Rania Al-Mashat reviewed the financial allocations for the initiative, with priority given to infrastructure and utility projects in phase two.
Randa El Menshawy, Senior Assistant to the Prime Minister, confirmed significant progress: 99% of school projects and 97% of drinking water projects have been completed, while youth and sports facilities reached 95% completion. Irrigation canal lining projects reached 85%, with continued efforts to meet the initiative’s timeline.
