Qatar’s Mejda Group will sign a deal to develop a $220 mn tourism project near Tunis, reported Reuters Zawya on Wednesday, according to an announcement made during the investment conference Tunisia 2020.
The new complex will comprise a luxury hotel, 90 rental villas and a shopping center and will be located north of Tunis at Raoued. Work is to start in December and is expected to create around 1,500 jobs. The development marks Mejda Group’s second hospitality project in Tunisia after developing a luxury hotel in Tabarka.
The deal itself was announced at an international investment conference in Tunis and will be signed there later on Wednesday. Several countries pledged bns of dollars in financial assistance for the struggling country during the conference.
