At roughly an estimate of EGP EGP 18 to 19 bn, Arab Contractors, in partnership with Orascom Construction, are to implement two road tunnels as part of the Suez Canal project in Port Said, reports Al Mal.

The two road tunnels are 2.7 km long each and are expected to be completed by the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019 the latest, ending the current traffic congestion on El Salam Bridge and Ahmed Hamdy Tunnel, according to Chairman of Arab Contractors Mohsen Salah.

Earlier this week, representatives from the Arab Contractors Co. and head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Kamel El Wazeer have met to follow up on updates regarding this project, which aims to link the Canal’s east bank with its west, Invest-Gate reported. However, the unusual moist soil of Port Said at this time of year remains a major challenge for both companies, explains Salah despite the use of modern technology in the execution of the project that is applied as Invest-Gate previously reported. It is worth mentioning that the project also includes a seadeck at Port Said to accommodate 170 tons ship containers, Invest-Gate reports.
