In a major step toward empowering youth and bridging the skills gap in Egypt’s construction sector, Rowad Modern Engineering (RME) has signed a cooperation protocol with El Sewedy Technical Academy (STA)—a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric Foundation—to launch a non-profit strategic partnership for technical education based on the “learning by practice” model, Invest-Gate reports.
The initiative aims to train and upskill 24 students from Elsewedy and Housing and Development Bank Technical Academy, equipping them with the practical and technical skills needed to meet labor market demands.
The protocol was signed by Eng. Mohamed Mahlab, CEO and Managing Director of Rowad Modern Engineering, and Ms. Hanan El Rihany, CEO of El Sewedy Technical Academy, in the presence of Ms. Sara Yassin, CSR Manager at RME, along with senior representatives from both organizations.
Under the three-year program—organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education—a specialized curriculum will be developed under RME’s supervision. The curriculum will provide certified training materials and combine theoretical education (20%) with hands-on experience (80%) at RME project sites. The program’s goal is to graduate highly skilled technicians capable of competing in both local and international markets while contributing to Egypt’s sustainable development agenda and Vision 2030.
Eng. Mohamed Mahlab, CEO and Managing Director of RME, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to aligning education with market needs, adding that RME is proud to collaborate with one of the leading educational arms of Elsewedy Group to deliver a program that connects technical education to the realities of the construction industry. He noted that the initiative represents a strategic step toward developing a new generation of qualified technical professionals capable of supporting Egypt’s construction and development sectors, while reaffirming the company’s dedication to enhancing the competitiveness and efficiency of Egypt’s skilled workforce and contributing to Vision 2030.
Ms. Hanan El Rihany, CEO of STA, said the academy is proud of its collaboration with Rowad Modern Engineering to launch a specialized technical education program that prepares qualified technicians to meet the evolving needs of the construction sector. She explained that trainees will undergo a multi-stage evaluation process within an integrated career pathway that enhances employability and equips them with both technical and interpersonal skills. The program, she added, will be implemented under the Ministry of Education’s regulations, supported by monitoring and evaluation mechanisms that ensure quality implementation and sustainable results.
Ms. Sara Yassin, CSR Manager at RME, affirmed that the initiative embodies the company’s belief in human capital as the cornerstone of progress. She stated that launching this program reflects RME’s commitment to corporate social responsibility by transferring practical knowledge and expertise to younger generations. She added that the company believes sustainable development begins with building people and that applied education is the foundation for empowering youth and driving economic growth.
The program adopts a “learning-by-doing” approach, combining classroom instruction with extensive on-site training across RME’s real construction projects and specialized laboratories. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, from construction fundamentals, materials, and safety, to site management and quality control, while also emphasizing complementary skills such as communication, language proficiency, and blueprint reading. Trainees will progress through structured assessment stages, and successful graduates will receive priority employment opportunities within RME projects and its partner companies, ensuring a sustainable pathway from education to employment in Egypt’s growing construction sector.
