Saudi Arabia to Set Up Entertainment City

Saudi Arabia is to build one of a “mega” cultural, sports, and entertainment city in Al-Qiddiya, southwest of Riyadh, Saudi Gazette reports.

Work on the project will start next year, with its first phase slated for opening in 2022.

The multibillion SAR city is to boast recreational facilities including a safari and a Six Flags theme park. The project will also include resorts, hotels, and residential units on about 100 miles of sandy coastline on the Red Sea.

“Al Qiddiya will have six major components: the fun city, sports facilities, car and cycle race courses, water adventures and ice games, natural attractions and cultural and heritage events,” the news agency adds.

US-based Six Flags CEO Jim Reid-Anderson said earlier that his company would build three parks in Saudi Arabia, with each costing between USD 300 mn and USD 500 mn.
