Schneider Electric has announced a breakthrough in cybersecurity certification with its EcoStruxure IT Network Management Card 3 (NMC3), becoming the first Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) network card to receive the IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 (SL2) designation from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Invest-Gate reports.
This certification, granted by TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in testing services, marks a significant milestone in ensuring robust cybersecurity for data centers and IT environments.
Moreover, the SL2 certification imposes higher security standards than SL1, which the NMC3 achieved last year. In addition, Schneider Electric’s cybersecurity development practices, including those for the NMC3, now comply with the ISASecure® Secure Development Lifecycle Assurance (SDLA) standard, reflecting a commitment to fortifying product security against emerging cyberthreats.
“According to the 2024 Allianz Risk Barometer, cyber incidents are the top business concern, costing an average of over $4 mn per incident,” said Kevin Brown, SVP for EcoStruxure IT, Data Center Business, at Schneider Electric. “With dual IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 and ISASecure® SDLA certifications, Schneider Electric is leading the way in reducing risks to critical infrastructure.”
Furthermore, the EcoStruxure IT Secure NMC System Tool further enhances the product by simplifying firmware updates. With the new tool, firmware management becomes up to 90% faster. It automatically notifies users of updates and provides easy installation, eliminating the need for manual searches and verifications.
Also, with these advancements, Schneider Electric strengthens its position as a pioneer in cybersecurity for digital infrastructure, aligning with the growing demand for secure, resilient data centers.
