Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El Sherbiny reviewed progress on the 8,336-feddan expansion of Sheikh Zayed City, known as Zayed El Gedeeda, Invest-Gate reports.
The development includes major water, sewage, and road infrastructure projects aimed at creating a fully integrated urban community.
El Sherbiny highlighted that the expansion, located west of Sheikh Zayed, is designed to accommodate various sectors, including residential, commercial, service, and entertainment facilities. He emphasized the importance of maintaining construction timelines, meeting quality standards, and addressing any challenges to ensure smooth project execution.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Ali, Assistant Vice President of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), conducted an on-site inspection to assess the latest developments in the area. The visit, attended by Marwa Hussein Amin, Head of the City Authority, and project officials, focused on reviewing essential utility and road projects.
One key milestone is the 1,200mm water transmission line, supplying the expanded area with high-quality drinking water. The pipeline, which connects to the city’s main purification plant, is 95% complete, with a total network length of 25 km, including 1,200mm, 900mm, and 800mm pipelines. Once completed, this infrastructure will support the growing needs of the Sheikh Zayed expansion, ensuring a sustainable water supply for future developments.
