Madbouly Appointed Egypt’s Prime Minister
????????????????????????????????????

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has appointed Mostafa Madbouly, the former Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, as the new prime minister on Thursday, June 7, Invest-Gate reports.

El-Sisi has assigned Madbouly to form the new government, according to a statement by the presidency’s spokesman Bassam Radi.

This comes two days after Egypt’s cabinet, including Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, resigned this week to pave the way for the appointment of a new cabinet following El-Sisi’s re-election as the head of state for a second term until 2022.

Madbouly, 52, is an architect and served as the director of the UN’s HABITAT Regional Office for Arab States from 2012 to 2014.

Madbouly was appointed minister of housing in the cabinet of former prime minister Ibrahim Mahlab in February 2014, and maintained his position when Ismail was appointed as prime minister in September 2015.

He served as an interim prime minister from November 2017 to the end of January 2018, while Ismail was receiving medical treatment abroad.
