Six Water, Sewage Treatment Plants Underway in Beheria

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar revealed on May 25 that six water and sewage treatment plants are afoot in Beheira Governorate, with costs valued at EGP 1.778 bn, Invest-Gate reports.

Three potable treatment plants are being developed at a capacity of 87,000 cubic meters per day in Beheira, valued at EGP 513 mn, El Gazzar stated in a recent ministerial statement. He added that another three sewerage projects are being implemented at a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day, with costs amounted at EGP 1.26 bn.

On details of these projects, the minister noted that one of the stations is aimed at completing the expansion of Kafr El Dawar Water Treatment Plant and its networks at a total cost of EGP 330 mn, confirming that the station is scheduled to be completed by the end of June, while the water networks will be done by next December.

Work on replacing and renovating Shubrakhit Water Treatment Plant to reach a capacity of 34,000 cubic meters per day, with investments of EGP 123 mn, is expected to be finished by the end of June, El Gazzar highlighted.

During the same month, expansion of Edco Wastewater Treatment Station is set to be completed, which is expected to perform at a capacity of up to 40,000 cubic meters per day, at a total cost of EGP 370 mn, he added.
