Slum Areas Enhanced in Several Governorates for EGP 1.5 Bn

Several slum areas have been enhanced across the country including Cairo, Qaliubya, Alexandria, Port Said, and Kafr El Sheikh at a total cost of EGP 1.5 bn, according to Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Mostafa Madbouly, Al Borsa reports.

According to the article, around 1000 families were given homes in Al Asmarat 1 at a cost of EGP 800 mn, while Al Asmarat 2 is currently being finalized at a total cost of EGP 500 mn, added Madbouly.

Three residential buildings are to be delivered within days in Qaliubya at a total cost of EGP 7.18 mn; and in Alexandria, 158 residential units have been allocated through a public lottery at a total cost of EGP 12 mn.

Around 42 residential buildings have been completed in Port Said at a total cost of EGP 94.88 mn; and three residential buildings have been constructed in Kafr El Sheikh at a total of EGP 21.2 mn.

Madbouly confirms that improving slum areas not only includes residential buildings, but also, construction of amenities such as greenery, sport courts, health facilities, commercial units, bakeries, public transportation, educational areas, security checkpoints, and post offices.
