Some Social Housing Projects Get Facility Management Services

Egypt’s Ministry of Housing has partnered with Al-Tameer Maintenance Services for Social Housing Company to take over all the facility management duties of 200,000 social housing units nationwide, particularly in new cities, for consecutive five years, Invest-Gate reports.

CEO of Mortgage Finance Fund (MFF) Mai Abdel Hamid said Shorouk City is the first area to relish the company’s facility management services, which include cleaning buildings, insect extermination, garbage collection, among others, according to a ministerial statement on November 27.

Abdel Hamid stressed that the role of the state is not only limited to the construction of social housing projects but also involves the continuous provision of maintenance services for the preservation of real estate wealth and citizens’ investments, as well as, the sustainability of the aesthetic appearance and cultural heritage of buildings, the statement noted.

On another note, the CEO pinpointed that the MFF has implemented a total of 394,000 social housing units, whilst 204,000 others are underway. She explained that another 337,000 properties are planned for the country’s social housing program, emphasizing that the state has allocated investments worth EGP 43.2 bn for the entire project so far.

The value of funds put forth to clients of social housing properties amount to EGP 27 bn, distributed among 29 banks and mortgage companies, Abdel Hamid underscored.
