Saadiyat Development and Investment Company (SDIC) awarded on June 25 an AED 1.53 bn construction contract to Shapoorji Pallonji Middle East (SP Mideast) for the 160,000-square-meter Qaryat Al Hidd project on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, Invest-Gate reports.
Under the deal, SP Mideast will be part of a lineup of international construction and design consultants, including Drees & Sommer, B+H Architects Corp, and Khatib & Alami, who have all previously been awarded contracts to provide project management and architecture expertise, Abu Dhabi-based SDIC said in a recently released statement.
“As part of Drees & Sommer’s remit, the team will be responsible for elements of the project including agile planning, value engineering, technical project management, cost control, and quality management, amongst others,” read the statement.
Stretching over 160,000 square meters, the new development will be part of the larger 1.5-mn-square-meter Hidd Al Saadiyat masterplan and is set to feature a number of parks, playgrounds, shops, restaurants, an array of five-star resorts, a world-class marina, and a yacht club.
Commenting on the project, SDIC’s Board Member Hamdan bin Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan explained, “The elegant design of the homes, the combination of a natural environment and waterfront lifestyle, a family-focused design, and easy access to Abu Dhabi and Dubai’s business hubs will ensure this development will be extremely popular with end-users.”
Meanwhile, Mohandass Saini, managing director and CEO of SP Mideast, revealed, “We are honored and excited to partner with world-class developer SDIC to develop the exquisite beachfront residential property, and we are committed and geared to complete the project on time.”
