The Suez Canal records revenues of USD 853.7 mn in March and April, up by 4.1% compared to USD 820.4 mn in the same period last year, Invest-Gate reports.
A total of 2,973 ships passed through the canal in March and April carrying 170.8 mn tons of cargo, according to a released statement.
“The increase is due to the recovery of the world’s economy as well as the rising amounts of commodities and the developments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone,” says Mohab Mameesh, the newly appointed head of the SCZone.
