Tanta logistics zone is being developed with investments worth EGP 6 bn, which is the largest of its kind for spreading over 83 acres and serving 42 mn people, thanks to its location in the middle of the Nile Delta, Invest-Gate reports.
“Downtown Delta” is creating more than 50,000 direct and indirect jobs throughout its execution period, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Meselhy highlighted during a site visit in early August.
It is being established in cooperation with the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) and Vernbro Global Investment (VGI), Meselhy indicated.
On his part, Head of ITDA Ibrahim Ashmawy said the under-construction megaproject includes the largest shopping mall in the Nile Delta, which was opened in September 2019, extending over 135,000 square meters, according to a recent official statement.
Additionally, Downtown Delta, according to Ashmawy, encompasses the largest pharmaceutical logistics zone, on top of other mixed-use areas.
Internal trade accounts for 19% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), with a total value of EGP 1.2 trn, the official earlier revealed.
