Egypt-based Tatweer Misr took part in the 10th Global Conference on the Intersection of Entrepreneurship Research and Policy, titled, “Entrepreneurship Ecosystems – The Future Ahead,” held from October 2 to 4 in Washington, D.C., Invest-Gate reports.
President and CEO of Tatweer Misr Ahmed Shalaby was a keynote speaker at the three-day event, hosted by George Washington (GW) University and aimed at increasing awareness, opportunities, education, and funding for members of the GW community, while driving entrepreneurial behaviors and creating measurable results, according to the company’s statement on October 7.
“At Tatweer Misr, we understand that we might be able to design and build for happy and more sustainable lifestyles within our properties. We also know that our ability to unleash the potential of innovatively built and purposeful properties starts with the education of its users, employees, and residents alike,” Shalaby highlighted during his speech.
“This drove us to engrain our own DNA with innovative and entrepreneurial thinking … Ever since our inception, we have dedicated most of our social investment efforts towards fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among Egyptian university students, as well as building a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem across Egypt, and with universities as a starting point,” the CEO further noted.
Shalaby underlined that Egypt’s entrepreneurial ecosystem has the potential to grow in several directions if given the proper tools and educational support.
After collaborating with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to implementing the country’s first American International Branch Campus (IBC), “Tatweer Misr plans to build on that momentum by continuing to partner with internationally acclaimed universities and schools, bringing them to Egypt to span across the 90-acre educational district at its [east Cairo] project, Bloomfields,” the statement added.
“Also, part of Tatweer Misr’s activities in the entrepreneurial field is their Annual Innovation Competition, which was first launched in 2017, acknowledging the importance of early awareness of entrepreneurial education, especially for the innovative young minds. This competition provided a better insight into the capabilities of the youth and the power of their minds and creative ideas,” read the press release.
This conference is an integral part of GW Entrepreneurship Week, aiming to create momentum for the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which is annually organized by Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN). GEW is set to take place this year from November 18 to 24, with Tatweer Misr sponsoring the annual event since 2016 in its homeland, while recently inking a deal to extend the sponsorship of those fruitful activities for the upcoming three years.
