“The Future of Digital Construction in Egypt” Summit Highlights Autodesk’s Building Modeling Solutions in Partnership with Government

Autodesk, the global company specialized in engineering software, held the “Future of Digital Construction in Egypt” summit, which kicked off on Wednesday with the attendance of representatives from both the public and private sectors, as well as over 200 prominent figures from the technology and construction industries, Invest-Gate reports.

The summit discussed the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in construction projects across various government sectors, along with the nature of existing and future partnerships with Autodesk, which is a key partner in numerous national projects, including the Grand Egyptian Museum, New Alamein, the Dabaa Project, and the Bahr El Baqar Treatment Plant. The discussions also focused on improving digital services in government agencies.

Hazem Nabil, Autodesk Egypt Country Manager, stated that there is an ambitious plan to drive the digital transformation process in the local market in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030. He emphasized that the company seeks to be the exclusive partner of the government in this endeavor.

Nabil added that the company aims to collaborate with the Ministries of Health and Industry, the Suez Canal Authority, and the Decent Life Initiative in the near future. Additionally, they plan to launch the Egyptian code for the requirements, operation, and sustainability of smart cities.

He noted that there is ongoing coordination with the Ministries of Communications and Education for Autodesk to initiate a series of initiatives aimed at training middle and high school students on its technological solutions. Furthermore, there is cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates to qualify workers for export abroad, thereby creating new job opportunities and attracting foreign currency.

For his part, Dr. Kamal Shawky, CEO of Updated Solutions, the strategic partner of Autodesk Egypt, stated that in alignment with the state’s goals to support digital transformation, the company recently launched an initiative to train teaching assistants and university professors in building modeling using BIM technology.

Shawky explained that the company’s role extends beyond training; it also involves providing advanced software and applications to enhance project quality, as well as qualifying companies to obtain the ISO 19_650 certification.

He pointed out that work is currently underway with the Administrative Capital for Urban Development to provide a platform for permits for all government agencies. He noted that they have also provided technological solutions for water management, receiving requests from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE for these solutions.
