Cairo Heritage Development Committee and Cairo Governorate Discuss Potential Reopening of Groppi Soon

Major General (staff) Dr. Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the President for Local Development and Chairman of Cairo Heritage Development Committee (CHDC), along with Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, chaired a meeting to discuss the executive steps for reviving and reopening the Groppi store in Talaat Harb Square, as well as the building it occupies, Invest-Gate reports.

This initiative is part of the state’s efforts to revitalize the Khedivial Cairo area and restore its distinctive elements.

The meeting, held at the Greek Club above Groppi Café, was attended by Major General Ibrahim Abdel Hadi, Deputy Governor for the Western Region; Major General Amr Abdel Moneim, Assistant Advisor to the President for Urban Planning; Dr. Abdallah Issa El-Sherif, Assistant Advisor to the President for Local Development; the Chairmen of Greater Cairo Water Company; the Chairmen of Greater Cairo Sanitary Drainage company; Maha Abdel Razek, CEO of Misr Real Estate Assets Management; representatives from The Sovereign Fund of Egypt; the project consultant; and several executives from the governorate.

Dr. Khaled Fouda and Dr. Ibrahim Saber also inspected the ongoing work to upgrade and develop the facades of buildings extending from Tahrir Square to Talaat Harb Square, as part of the third phase of the development of the Khedivial Cairo area.
