Under the slogan, “Time to Give Back,” Invest-Gate is to host its first annual real estate industry charitable sohour, this Ramadan, giving back to the Leprosy community across Egypt.
Deep inside Qalyubia’s suburbs, lies one of the most indigent and desperate communities, “Leper Colony,” which gathers people suffering from a chronic infectious disease and facing an arduous struggle we know nothing about – Leprosy.
Leper Colony is a community of Leprosy patients, who are ostracized from their communities and living in dire need for all types of aids. The area encompasses a giant hospital that houses hundreds of patients afflicted by this contagious disease, while being abandoned by their families and friends. Outside this community, there are also thousands of disease carriers spread across all the country and continue struggling with Leprosy’s deadly symptoms.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, an acid-fast, rod-shaped bacillus. It crucially affects the skin, peripheral nerves, mucosa of the upper respiratory tract, and eyes. The disease, however, is curable and treatment in the early stages can prevent disability.
Out of its firm belief in giving back to the society and enhancing people’s lives, Invest-Gate is gladly inviting property developers to take part in the first real estate industry sohour, taking place at the Nile-Ritz Carlton, Cairo.
Through the event, Invest-Gate aims to collect massive donations from the country’s top developers for supporting leprosy patients to supply them with medicines, and conducting operations whether optical surgeries or amputation of affected limbs and joints. The event’s proceeds will be directed to providing the community with basic life necessities.
We will also put all our efforts to make those contributions come live through documenting the whole process from the very beginning until the patients actually relish the provided aids.
