Major General Hassan Abdel Shafi, Advisor to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, along with Abdul Khaliq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, and Mohamed Abu Saada, Head of the National Coordination Authority for Civilization, inspected the Al-Azbakia Park development project to monitor its progress and find appropriate solutions to overcome any obstacles to its timely completion, Invest-Gate reports.

Moreover, Abdel Shafi and his companions were briefed on the detailed explanation of the park’s development, as all the facilities and main amenities of the park have been completed, and the site coordination and landscaping works are currently being carried out.

Also, they visited the building of the Al-Salah Club, one of the oldest clubs in the Middle East. They reviewed the proposed development plan to restore the architectural and heritage value of the building.

Abdel Shafi and his companions were also introduced to the design of the new book kiosks in the park’s vicinity, which were designed through an architectural competition among Egyptian university students. They also discussed the proposed development of the surrounding area, including the Opera Square and the development of the Opera Square Garage, as well as the organization of the presence of street vendors.

Furthermore, Ibrahim explained that the development project of Al-Azbakia Park includes the lake, the archaeological fountain, the Roman theater, the pergola, the cafeteria, the restaurant, the walls, and others.

Notably, Al-Azbakia Park is one of the oldest parks in Cairo Governorate and it was built in the 19th century during the reign of Khedive Ismail. It is currently undergoing development in accordance with the demands of the political leadership within the framework of efforts to develop Khedivial Cairo.
