Trial Operation of Electric Cabs Commences in NAC

The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, has announced today the commencement of the trial operation for the first phase of the electric car project in the Administrative Capital (NAC), known as “New Capital Cab”, Invest-Gate reports.

The Ministry of Transport will oversee the project. The initial phase consists of 10 cars that will cater to the transportation needs of citizens and visitors in the city. These cars are part of a total fleet of 145 electric vehicles that will be gradually deployed within the NAC under the Electric New Capital Cab initiative.

The project launch took place during a press conference at the Ministry of Transport in the NAC, with the presence of Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, and Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of ACUD.

During the conference, Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, highlighted the environmentally friendly nature of electric cars, aligning with the state’s green transportation strategy. He emphasized that these cars generate minimal noise and produce no exhaust emissions.

Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir further stated, “We are delighted to collaborate with PLUG Elsewedy Electric, the entity responsible for the electric cab charging project in the NAC.”

Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of ACUD, expressed his satisfaction with this significant milestone. He emphasized the high level of passenger safety in the electric cabs, which are equipped with surveillance cameras, GPS devices, and constant communication with the central control room operated by the Arab Union for Land Transport Company (Super Jet). This reflects ACUD’s commitment to ensuring the safety and convenience of citizens moving within the NAC.

It is important to note that booking a cab will be available through a smart mobile phone application scheduled to be launched on the first day of operation. The app will offer two payment options: payment cards or cash.

Additionally, a hotline number, 19157, will be available for passengers to provide feedback, suggestions, and report any complaints, ensuring the delivery of the highest level of service and luxury.
