A delegation from the United Nations Development Programme headquarters in New York has visited the Egypt-PV National Solar Cell Systems project at the Janna 6th October Compound, Invest-Gate reports.

Hind Farouh, the project manager, attended the visit.

Adel El-Naggar, Head of the 6th of October City Development Authority, highlighted that the Industrial Modernization Center is implementing the Egypt-PV National Solar Cell Systems project in partnership with the UNDP.

El Naggar further emphasized, “The Global Environment Facility finances it, honoured with the British Energy Institute’s award for the best globally submitted project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in 2020.”

Moreover, in Janna 6th October Compound, 22 solar stations have been installed, contributing clean energy to 21 buildings and a communal structure.

Furthermore, El-Naggar stated that the average clean energy production per system reaches about 160 Mw-hours annually, resulting in a total reduction of approximately 71 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Moustafa Arnada, the Media Officer at the 6th October City Development Authority, highlighted that this project sets a precedent as the first residential project under the Urban Communities Authority, applying sustainability criteria and renewable energy use as a green alternative.

Notably, this initiative aims to bolster awareness of renewable energy within the framework of achieving sustainable development goals.
