Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy has visited the 93-acre Sports City project at the New Administrative Capital (NAC) to follow up on progress of work at the site, Invest-Gate reports.
Work on the Sports City is proceeding in full swing, the minister said in a statement published on February 5, adding that the project is being implemented in accordance with international standards.
With buildings 85% completed, the Sports City will host the Handball World Cup 2021, which will be held at the 10,000-meter main covered hall with a capacity of 7,000 people, in addition to other international tournaments in various sports games, according to the statement.
The project includes a football stadium complex, as well as volleyball, basketball, paddle, tennis, squash, and multi-purpose courts. It also features a gymnasium, a culture and technology building, a special needs lounge, a social building, a pool complex, a service area, amongst other facilities.
In addition, Sobhy called for the importance of providing services area for fans to be used for investment purposes.
