Work on NAC’s Capital Park Must Conclude Before 2021: Abbas

Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities for National Projects Khaled Abbas has undertaken a follow-up visit to the New Administrative Capital’s (NAC) Capital Park project, where he called on contractors to finalize work on-site before year-end, Invest-Gate reports.

Execution rates shall accelerate to render an assortment of services and facilities for the soon-to-be residents of NAC, which is scheduled for inauguration in early 2021, Abbas stressed in a ministerial statement on August 17, noting that these amenities will also serve the transferred government workers.

This comes along with the provision of dedicated gates to expedite the entry/exit people to these services, while also ensuring quality standards and safety, the deputy minister added.

For that reason, construction companies, said Abbas, are required to set compressed work schedules and intensify labor force at the project’s different worksites to compensate for delays due to protective measures against Coronavirus.

Capital Park spans across over 1,000 acres and extends over more than 10 kilometers in length, making it one of the largest parks worldwide, according to Amr Khattab, head of the group supervising the implementation of Capital Park, indicating that the easy-accessed park is divided into three coherent phases; CP 01, CP 02, and CP 03, each of which reflects a unique urban and visual aspect.

CP 01 will spread over 375 acres, including over 250 acres of open-air greeneries and several projects such as an Islamic garden and an integrated resort. Meanwhile, the 306-acre phase II will have over 240 acres of outdoor walking areas, alongside a heritage garden, recreational spots, and an open theater. As for CP 03, it will extend over 309 acres, with 250 acres allotted for open areas, while 50 others for a kids park, a library, a sports club, and many more, Khattab revealed.

Almost 60,000 public employees are set to be transferred to work in the new capital, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Administrative Reform Hany Mahmoud confirmed in a TV broadcast on August 19, highlighting that all staff members will undergo training to ensure they can effectively use new office technology equipment.

“We are cooperating with an international company to benefit from its experience in the organizational structuring of ministries before moving to NAC,” Mahmoud was quoted as saying back then.
