Construction on the $272 million second stage of the Dubai Design District (d3) has begun, according to an announcement by the Dubai Media Office last week.
Over 160 design companies are operating in the zone with an occupancy level of 85%, according to ME Construction News, quoting d3.
The second stage is set to include a specialized creative community designed and executed by Foster and Partners, according to Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, CEO of TECOM Group.
According to Al Rustamani, the community will also extend over 1 million square feet, involving an investment of AED 1 billion with spaces being provided for designers for light works, galleries and retail space.
