Sayed Ismail, Deputy Housing Minister for Infrastructure, holds a meeting with two missions from the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to inspect the execution of the first and second phases of the program for sustainable water drainage services in rural areas, Invest-Gate reports.
Financed by the World Bank and the AIIB, the program includes projects in six governorates; Ad-Dakahlia, Ash-Sharqia, Al-Behira, Al-Gharbia, Al-Menofia, and Damietta.
The project aims to increase water drainage services and upgrade infrastructure.
Ismail notes that the program is executed under the result-based financing model which focuses on desired goals and results of the project.
During the meeting, executives at the World Bank and the AIIB revealed that around 90% of the amount allocated to the first phase of the project was withdrawn, while 63% of the second phase’s finance was used.
Furthermore, Ismail announces that the final draft of the water law is finished and relevant legislative procedures will be taken.
