CEO of Informal Settlement Development Fund (ISDF) Khaled Siddik said that the fund presented the government efforts to resolve the issue of slums as a priority agenda item, Invest-Gate reports.
This came during a session titled “the international cooperation for development” during the 10th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF10) held from February 8 to 13 in Dubai.
Siddik referred to the volume of implemented and undergoing projects to develop slum areas and mechanisms used by the state in that respect, based on the ISDF’s current classification of unsafe areas by danger level. He also underlined that “addressing the informal housing issue has been considered a priority for Egypt throughout the past years.”
The ISDF also showcased the recent projects being executed in collaboration with international donors such as the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), which contribute in capability building and community engagement.
The WUF10 is organized and convened by UN-Habitat, where it became the foremost international gathering for exchanging views and experiences on sustainable urbanization in all its considerations.
